Mayans, Aztecs and Incas claim the paternity of cocoa, but the cocoa growers of the Tumaco region consider it born in their roots, as a symbol of the productive culture in the Colombian Pacific, known worldwide as the Tumaco culture “La Tolita”, aborigines who immortalized works in gold, silver, copper and platinum, leaving a global legacy in pieces such as: pendants, rings, nose rings, masks, bracelets, and the “Golden Sun” pieces considered heritage of Colombia.
This gold smithing was transferred to the artisanal consumption of cocoa in different ways: ground with stones, metal mills and root “grinders” (beaters). Holding the essence of what is considered the best cocoa in Colombia, we bring the richness of an ancestral tradition to your palate contained in each cocoa bean. A product planted and harvested by Afro-descendant families in Violence-ridden areas and the presence of armed groups, who together decided to replace coca leaf crops with this ancestral product, knowing clearly they should grow cocoa. It is a path to build peace.

Tumaco—according to local legend is known as “the pearl of the pacific,” because of the discovery of the biggest pearl ever found. But it’s most precious treasure is cacao. The cacao trees in this area have been here more than two hundred years and are an essential part of Tumaco’s economic and cultural heritage.
That’s where our name comes from—a pearl that today shines thanks to the initiative of the native people here who one day left behind their arms and realizing the suffering of their people, lead a collective resistance in a new way of life—replacing the illegal economy of cocaine with a legal industry of the transformation of cacao.
A Tumacan jewel made out of a cacao seed that dazzles with its tones, flavores, and aromas. It stands out among the best in the world. The fruit of the effort of families in this region to reject the cultivation of illegal substances and to be a part of the dynamic production of chocolate to improve the quality of life of everyone in the community.

Despite the violence and armed conflict, the inhabitants of Tumaco have never lost their most precious asset: joy. A virtue reflected in their cultural identity, also attributed to the cocoa consumption, due to it is a precursor of serotonin, known as "the hormone of happiness", a neurotransmitter with the function of regulating mood, sleep, appetite, heart rate, body temperature, sensitivity and intellectual functions.
Cocoa contains theobromine, a substance that stimulates the nervous system, which causes enthusiasm, animation and happiness when consumed. In addition, it promotes the production of endorphins, which produces a better mood, effective in combating physical or mental stress.
There are many positive properties of cocoa found in this product, an effort of collective resistance to reduce and eliminate crops for illicit use, through a productive strategy in the Tumaco region.

After traveling the seas of the world, three vigorous red fish fell asleep in the estuaries of the Pacific coast in Nariño, where lulled by the breeze and waves they settled forever. The tide covered them with sand and the exuberant vegetation grew soon, giving place to TUMACO, distributed on the islands of El Morro, La Viciosa and El Pindo, one after the other on the back of each snapper.
The Tumac Indians populated it and were mixed with the African descent, who in search of freedom, chose this territory marked by estuaries and mangroves, together planted cocoa in this mythical land.
From that bewitching territory comes to your hands the richest cocoa in tasting and aroma in Colombia, a product planted by Afro-descendant families in Violence-ridden areas due to the presence of armed groups, who had a principle of autonomy in a collective effort, they decided to replace coca leaf crops with this ancestral product, knowing that growing cocoa is a way to build peace.
